Inclusions
- What's included in the tariff?
A stay at the lodge is inclusive of accommodation, gourmet breakfast, pre-dinner drinks and snacks, dinner in Appellation with matched wines, selected in-suite bar and use of lodge facilities.
- Is there complimentary wifi?
Complimentary wifi access is available throughout the lodge.
- Is there an airport transfer service?
A private car service (including with a foreign language tour guide on request) is available to meet guests at the domestic or international arrivals hall at the airport or at the General Aviation Terminal for private charters.
For visitors arriving by train, a car service is available for pickup from the Keswick train terminal for the Ghan, Indian Pacific or Overlander interstate train services. This service may also be confirmed for pickup or drop off at any Adelaide city hotels.
For a spectacular aerial arrival, it’s hard to beat a helicopter transfer and The Louise has a daylight helipad onsite perfect for the purpose. Transit times to Adelaide airport vary depending on the scenic route taken.
Additional costs apply for all private road and air transfers. Bookings are best made in advance; please enquire for rates and information.
Policies
- What time is check-in/check-out?
Check-in time is 2pm and check-out time is 10.30am. Where possible, flexibility with early check-in and late check-out will be provided, however, these are unable to be guaranteed. The facilities of the main lodge are available for enjoyment whilst at the property.
- What is the lodge's smoking policy?
The lodge has a no-smoking policy in all suites and shared common areas. To smoke, please step outside onto the terrace.
- What is the minimum age for check-in?
The Louise welcomes children ten years and over.
- What is the payment policy?
A credit card is required to confirm a reservation along with CCV number and expiry date. All bookings require full prepayment one month prior to arrival. We accept Visa, Mastercard or American Express or direct deposit. Payments by Visa or MasterCard attract a 1.6% surcharge; payment by American Express attracts a 2.47% surcharge (surcharges subject to change).
- What is the cancellation policy?
Bookings may be cancelled or amended prior to one month from arrival without forfeiture. Cancellations and booking amendments received within one month of arrival forfeit all monies paid.
No refunds or credits can be given in the event of non-arrival, any unused services, or unused nights due to travel and/or weather disruption. For peace of mind, we recommend you protect yourself with comprehensive travel insurance to cover any cancellation fees.

- How do you get there?
The Louise is located in the Barossa Valley, an easy one hour drive northeast from Adelaide (70 km). The lodge is easily accessed from Adelaide Airport, a hub for international and domestic commercially operated flights. Direct commercial flights operate to and from the nation’s main ports Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin and Hobart.
Self-driving to The Louise is the popular option given its proximity to Adelaide and is generally accomplished by picking up a hire car from the airport, train station or Adelaide CBD. Advance bookings are essential. For maps, the address is The Louise, corner Seppeltsfield and Stonewell Roads, Marananga, Barossa Valley, South Australia.
- What's the weather like?
Situated between the state’s coastal temperature zones, the Barossa Valley is regarded as a warm climate region. Hot, dry summers see daytime temperatures range from 26-29°C while the autumnal months endure a milder climate, with pleasant sunny days and cool evenings. Winter months bring chilly days ranging from 12-16°C, perfect for sitting by the fire and enjoying a glass of the regions wine.
- What should I wear?
Reflecting the country retreat style of the lodge, dress is smart casual at The Louise. Comfort is key at all times – solid walking shoes, layers of warmer clothes and an outdoor jacket if travelling in the cooler months are all recommended. In the summer, consider packing a swimsuit for dips in the pool. A hat and sunscreen are every-day essentials.
- What is the currency?
The official currency of Australia is Australian Dollars (AUD).
- What is the time zone?
Located in South Australia, The Louise follows Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) which is 9.5 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +9.5).
- What is the language?
English is the official language of Australia.
- What is the electricity connection?
Mains voltage in Australia is 230V 50Hz. The plugs in Australia have two flat metal pins shaped live a ‘V’ and some may contain a third flat pin in the centre.
Dining
- Do you offer room service?
As the lodge thrives on a convivial atmosphere, in-suite dining isn’t offered.
- Do you cater for dietary requirements?
As the lodge is situated in a remote destination, it’s essential to advise any special dietary needs at the time of reservation. We will do our best to tailor menus accordingly whilst providing opportunity to enjoy a diverse range of premium regional produce. Should notice not be provided in advance, our chefs will endeavour to prepare suitable meals with the ingredients available. We regret we are unable to prepare meals requiring strict religious observance in the preparation.
- What hours are meals usually served?
Appellation Restaurant is open as follows:
Breakfast 7am – 10am
Dinner 6pm – 9.30pm - Does Appellation and Contour accept bookings by non-guests?
The Louise welcomes dinner bookings in Appellation from non-resident guests. Reservations in advance are essential.
Contour is open Thursday to Monday from 5pm-9pm. Reservations are encouraged to avoid disappointment.

- Do you have a fitness centre/gym?
There is a small, well appointed gym onsite available for guest use.
- Is there a swimming pool?
A infinity-edge outdoor swimming pool is located adjacent to the main lodge.
- Is parking available at the lodge?
Parking for private vehicles is available at the property.
- Is the lodge wheelchair friendly?
Accommodation at The Louise includes the dedicated wheelchair/mobility-accessible Stonewell Suite which is generously sized to allow ample space to move around the room. It’s located close to the main lodge and is accessible to the central guest areas.
